GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS


COLLEGE PREP/HONORS PROGRAM
(24 credits) beginning with class of 1998
4 units of English (English 1, 2, Honors English 2, 3, Honors English 3 & 4)
4 units of Mathematics (Algebra 1 & above)
3 units of Science, (to include Physical Science & Biology)
3 units of Social Studies (to include Government, Soc. Studies, American History and World History)
1 unit of Fine Arts
1 unit of Physical Education
1 unit of Practical Arts (Computer Applications is 1/2 Unit) (Personal Finance, 1/2 Unit will be required starting with the class of 2010)
1/2 unit of Health
6.5 Elective units*
24 TOTAL

**TWO YEARS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE (SAME LANGUAGE) MUST BE TAKEN TO ENROLL IN ANY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI SCHOOLS, INCLUDING KANSAS CITY, ROLLA, ST. LOUIS AND COLUMBIA.
Two years of a foreign language is recommended by all other colleges.

Special recognition for students completing this course of study will be made on their diplomas and transcripts. NOTE: THE COMPLETION OF COLLEGE CLASSES AND/OR CORRESPONDENCE CLASSES SHALL NOT COUNT AS MEETING ANY HONOR'S PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS. For student to be eligible for class Valedictorian or Salutatorian, a student must graduate with honors and must be enrolled in A.V. High School district prior to and continuously following the 10th school day of the student's junior year.

TECH PREP PROGRAM
(24 credits) beginning with class of 1998
3 units of English (English 1,2 or Honors English 2, 3, Honors English 3)
3 units of Mathematics
2 units of Science (Physical Science & Biology)
   (3 units of Science Required with the class of 2009)
3 units of Social Studies (Government, Social Studies, American History and World History)
1 unit of Practical Arts (Computer Applications)
  (Personal Finance, 1/2 Unit will be required starting with the class of 2010)
1 unit of Fine Arts
1 unit of Physical Education
1/2 unit of Health
11.5 Elective units**
24 TOTAL

**This set of electives should be selected from one of the career paths listed below or from the Area Vocational School.

CAREER PATHS
Arts and Communications, Health Services, Business and Management, Natural Resources, Human Services, Industrial and Engineering Technology.

All students are required by law to pass State and Federal Constitution tests before diplomas can be awarded.

In addition to the above diplomas, students may earn recognition through the Presidential Academic Fitness Award program and/or the Missouri College Preparatory Certificate of recognition program by completing specified course requirements. Students interested in these programs should consult with Mrs. Tate.

All class and graduation requirements must be fulfilled before a student may graduate. The Principal will notify the parents of any student in danger of not graduating with his/her class as soon as that possibility is recognized. Students who fail to graduate with their class may return to school the following year to take up to 2 credits of correspondence work and/o
