The Arcadia Valley Middle School Conduct Guide has been developed to give you information on general and specific school procedures. It is not all-inclusive and there will be items about which you have questions. Please, just ask. Also realize that the Arcadia Valley Middle School is a constantly changing environment and procedures will change and adapt as needed.

We are truly looking forward to working with you over the coming years as we promote a safe and orderly environment for student leaning and achievement both social and academic. Together, we will make this the best middle school possible!

We ask that all AVMS parents read and discuss this guide with your child and sign the page at the front of the student handbook to indicate that you have done so.

DISCIPLINE POLICY:
In compliance with state law, we are required to have a code of conduct. Disciplinary actions are designed to foster student responsibility, respect for the rights of others, and to insure the orderly operation of our school. A violation of school rules will occur whether the conduct takes place on the school campus, at a school activity, or enroute to and from school.

The Principal is responsible for seeing that AVMS is a place where teachers can teach and children can learn. Teachers have a right to:

o Establish a classroom structure and routine that provides an appropriate learning environment.

o Determine and request appropriate student behavior.

o Ask the principal, parents, or any other appropriate party for assistance with a student.

Students have a right to a leaning environment that is safe, is free from unnecessary distraction and disruption, and is conducive to leaning. Parents have the right to expect the principal and teachers to provide such an environment for their children.
