Parents, Students, and Patrons:

Once again we are looking forward to another educational, productive and progressive year!  We are truly excited about the upcoming school year.  Each year we are continually blessed with a wonderful team of teachers, administrators and support staff who care about children and work hard to provide an environment for our students.  We are very fortunate to live in a community where education is a priority and to have individuals who are interested in our school system and share in its successes.

The Board of Education and the Arcadia Valley R-II staff are anxious to serve the children of the Valley.  Last year, our district received several recognitions which can only indicate the quality of education that our students receive.  One specific awards the district received was “Academic Distinction in Performance, 2009-2010” by the Departement of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).  The district has received this award in 2002-2003, 2005-2006, 2008-2009.   This will be another very exciting year for our children.  Our goal is simply to provide the best educational programs and facilities possible for the students in our schools, and as we work together this continues to be possible.

We have fantastic facilities that have been provided by our community to provide the best education for our children.  It is with humble gratitude that we have been provided the support of our community and business to help our students be successful.  We are extremely excited about the new elementary building project.   This building, which will involve a complete renovation of the existing facility, along with a new Kindergarten Wing, Gymnasium and Library, is another step which will bring strength to our facilities that our academic programs have had since the first students arrived at this campus in 1968.  Phases 1 and 2 have already been started within the building and Phase 1 will be turned over to the district at the end of this September.  The rest of the Phases will be completed throughout this year with an anticipated completion date of August, 2011.  Support and involvement from a school district's stakeholders can mean the difference between a public education success story and a failing district.

The District has involved the community in providing valuable feedback and information to the administration and Board of Education which has provided numerous dividends for our students.  Parents, volunteers, community members, students, religious leaders and senior citizens have contributed greatly to the District and its students and to those we are grateful.

In closing, it is always a pleasure to work in an environment and a community that places the needs of our children at a high priority.  The goal of our district is to keep an open and receptive climate for all and a school that the community is proud to send their children.  I invite you and encourage you to take an active role in the education of our children and help in the success of our children.  Our vision is one of community involvement and partnership as we fulfill our mission of excellence in quality education.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim Carver
Superintendent of Schools
